Common materials and material requirements for injection molding machine barrel screws
Aug 08, 2024
The injection molding machine continuously moves the plastic particles stored in the funnel through the action of the barrel screw. Under the combined action of heating and shearing, the plastic softens due to heat and becomes a flowing state. Then, the screw back pressure is changed to adjust the oil return speed, further changing the flow state of the plastic inside the injection molding machine so that the plastic can be plasticized.
Common materials and material requirements for injection molding machine barrel screws:
The commonly used materials currently include nitriding steel, 45 steel, 40Cr, 38CrMoAl, and so on.
1. Nitrided steel and 38CrMoAl have excellent overall properties, so they are widely used. Generally speaking, the thickness of the nitride layer is required to be 0.4-0.6 millimeters. However, this material has lower corrosion resistance and is expensive.
2. One obvious advantage of 45 steel material is its low price, high cost-effectiveness, and good processing performance. However, it also has obvious shortcomings, such as poor wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
3. 40Cr material has better overall performance than 45 steel, but in order to enhance its corrosion resistance and wear resistance, a layer of chromium needs to be plated on its surface. However, the thickness of the chromium plating layer has strict requirements, it cannot be too thick or too thin.
